Anita Baker may be one the most celebrated female RnB performers from the 80’s, but her celebrity isn’t enough to keep her safe from the streets.
As the fight against systematic racism continues to ignite in the hearts of everyone across the nation, Ms Baker is also looking back at her run-in with a cop, who racially profiled her and refused to do his duty.
Here’s what the award winning 62 year old singer wrote on her Twitter:
“After following me All Summer (1) of my Stalkers came 2 my home. Suburban police took him away said they couldn’t charge him. I went 2 State police 2 bring charges & get A CWP. In retaliation 4 “Going Over their Head?” Local Police ticketed me so much? I simply quit driving”
She further stated:
“This happened A few yrs ago. But, The query is the Same?… Who can You Telephone receiver Call when those designated to Help you, actually Abuse you???”
She also posted a pic-art of Breonna Taylor, joining the ongoing fight against police brutality.
Policing. Is. A. Business… Police Unions, are Very Powerful. They Enforce, the Terms of the Contracts Negotiated by City & State Govnmt… Contracts which often leave City Officials/Police Chief, District Attys, City Counsel, POWERless. to discipline them. #ThisIshAintHard pic.twitter.com/xE6B4ileUn
