Disney just revealed the latest teaser-visual to their live-action remake of ‘Aladdin’ and it hasn’t exactly drawn the kind of response they might have been expecting from it.
The Will Smith, Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud starrer has previously been at the brink of some online trolling, instantly drawing comparison to the “original” animated version featuring the late Robin Williams.
But the unveiling of the new ‘Prince Ali’ song, featuring Smith – as the lovable and magical character of Genie, perhaps takes the cake.
See it for yourself:
What clearly seemed like an attempt to replicate the vibrant song-and-dance routine of ‘Bollywood’, the visual hasn’t struck the right chords with netizens, who have been quick to disapprove of it on social media.

Guy Ritchie is proof you can be married to Madonna for 8 years and come out not knowing how to direct a musical performance pic.twitter.com/Me99KYUICO

Also Jasmine, Aladdin, and Genie feel like they’re in 3 places because it’s choppy. If there were fluid shots that connected Genie and Aladdin and Aladdin and Jasmine, it would already be improved. This film is going to be a mess I can already tell.

Hell, Aladdin doesn’t even seem to be in the same spot with the elephant he’s riding on.

Apart from these negative responses, there were also those who simply loved it for what it was and had no complaints.
We for one, feel that its a decent attempt and looks fun. Although it may not match the unforgettable visual that was created with the animated version, but it still holds its own.
