Ari Lennox Announces She’s Quitting Music After Not Winning Anything at Soul Train Awards

Ari Lennox would rather just join the army than make more music now.

The singer was left so disappointed by not winning anything at the recently announced Soul Train Awards, that she responded by stating that she’d now take permanent hiatus from music altogether.

Lennox took to her Twitter handle to vent out her frustration after she lost in all the categories she was nominated for, leaving empty-handed from the ceremony.

Here’s what she had to say:

“You know what I realized? People who genuinely f*ck with me understand my frustration. People who are self hating haters and clearly have never given my music a chance got the biggest problem with me always.

No one will have to worry about me complaining after this current complaint. Lol what I will not do is ever be this depressed again.

It’s not just an award. It wasn’t any award show. It was the soul train awards. As you can see I’m big fan of soul music and huge fan of soul train history.”

She goes on in her online rant:

“Being snubbed was something I always expected and was definitely prepared for just not by them.

My intent was to never shade other nominees. I’m hurt and I don’t expect soulless haters to understand that”

She further continues:

“Me being honest doesn’t make me less gracious or less star worthy. I’ m not selling out. So I quit.”

“Tired of being annoying tired of being annoyed. I just ain’t built like the rest of them. This sh*t ain’t for me.

It’s clear I’m not “cool” enough. Not trendy enough and I don’t care to be. I don’t strive for that. I’m not going to chase this sh*t ever again. No more fake sh*t on my part.

It’s not just the awards. SBB was slept on in so many ways. Im too emotional to present like I can play this game.

I’ll join the damn army.”

Well, it hurts to lose when you’ve put hard work into your music, certainly. But is not easier to wait for another time to shine and continue to make your music? Every musician has had to endure this at some point. Not everyone can win.

What are you thoughts on this entire prolonged rant by Lennox?
