While Michael Jackson most definitely is the undisputed King of Pop, with his success in the Pop music realm surpassing all of his peers and his popularity crossing all borders and boundaries; similar term for females is used pretty loosely and vaguely.
‘Queen Of Pop’ title has most commonly been used interchangeably between Madonna, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson.
All three of the Pop queens had incredible success during the 80’s and the 90’s and broke several records with their hits and albums.
While all three have an almost equal number of chart-topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100, Madonna and Whitney outweigh Janet, when it comes to overall worldwide sales.
The two also experienced great success in their live shows, with Whitney crossing over to many geographical boundaries with her long-running tour in 1994 and Madonna showing her longevity by earning one of the top selling tours of all time in the mid 2000’s.
Jackson continued her success in Popular music, following the footsteps of her brother, securing herself the position of an undisputed icon in dance-Pop.
