Tekashi 69 Is A ‘Truly Horrible Human’ & a ‘Manufactured Celebrity’ Says Director of His Documentary Series

Rapper 6ix9ine AKA Tekashi 69 has been labelled a ‘manufactured celebrity’ by the very documentary-filmmaker, who has explored his life and personality in a new web series.

Karam Gill – who has curated the upcoming series – Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine, has appeared for an interview with Page Six, and hasn’t held back while describing the controversial rapper as a ‘truly horrible human.’

Gill has stated that the success and rise of Tekashi is carefully manufactured and calculated, which also speaks of the culture that we live in today.

Karam has attempted to throw light on how ‘celebrities’ and ‘music stars’ are created these days, through shock value and internet tools.

“I think viewers will be shocked to realise how hyper-calculated the rapper is,” he was quoted telling Page Six.

Further adding:

“Tekashi was someone who never did anything online on accident. Every click, word, and action online was designed with care to spark a reaction.”

On his personality, Gill stated:

“The public and media hates him because he is truly a horrible human being who has done terrible things,” Gill said.

Speaking on how crucial the doc is in opening people’s eyes about the culture of ‘manufactured celebrities’, Gill further stated:

“We’re living in the era of manufactured celebrity, where people can create inauthentic online personas and rise to fame without any talent or morals. Tekashi’s story is exactly that – he’s someone who realised the power of having your own platform.”
