Mariah Carey admires and loves Beyonce and all that she does – but a VERZUZ battle with the singer doesn’t seem to be a cup of her tea.
It was recently suggested by producer L.A. Reid that the two singers should get together for a song-by-song battle in the popular show, which has already seen divas like – Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight in attendance.
When quizzed about what she thought of the idea, Mariah firmly pointed out that she would be ‘disrespecting’ herself by doing it, insisting further that she’d not do it anyway, as it’s “Christmas time.”
Here’s what she was quoted as telling by E! –
“I’d be disrespecting myself and I’m not going to do that, because it’s Christmas time.”
MC did however assert her love for Bey, by saying:
“I love Beyoncé and I admire her so much as a performer for what she’s done for the world and everything else.”
So, if you were ever clinging to the hope of seeing the two Pop powerhouses on the Verzuz stage, just understand that it might be too small to contain both of these mega-divas.
