POLL: Whitney, Madonna Or Janet – Who Was The Queen Of 80’s Music? Vote Here!

80’s was perhaps one of the most vibrant and effervescent era in music, and that reflected not only in the hits that made-up the popular charts, but also the fashion choices of some of the hottest artists of that time.

The colorful vibrance of everything that came on MTV and the sexual awakening of an entire generation, was reflected in music, by some of the most popular artists of that time.

The three biggest female names in music, that come to mind – who churned hit-after-hit during this decade were – Madonna, Janet Jackson and the late Whitney Houston.

The trio pretty much ruled the charts back then, and exemplified many aspects of what the decade had to offer musically. While Madonna delivered 4 albums between 1983 and 1989, including the iconic ‘Like A Prayer’, and hits like ‘La Isla Bonita’ and ‘Papa Don’t Preach’, Whitney Houston made her debut with a sultry duet in Teddy Pendergrass’ album in 1984, and released her own debut album in 1985 – which went on to become the biggest selling female debut of all time. She repeated the same level of success with her 1987 sophomore album and catapulted to super-stardom.

Janet too, gave some of her most thought-provoking and challenging work during this time, with iconic LP’s like ‘Control’ and ‘Rhythm Nation 1814’, and managed to create her own space in the music biz, despite the preexisting monumental impact of her brother. One of the most iconic female careers was born, despite huge chances of being eclipsed by the success of her own family.

But who had the biggest success story in the 80’s – out of these three top-notch Pop Queens?
