Trick Daddy Explains His ‘Beyonce Can’t Sing’ Comment: ‘She’s Not On The Level Of Whitney Houston, Stephanie Mills’

Just a few years ago, Trick Daddy incited the wrath of the Beehive (a pet name for singer Beyonce’s ardent fans and followers), after he questioned the star’s singing abilities.

During a Clubhouse chat, Trick mocked Beyonce and stated that she wouldn’t be able to write a song or sing on her own.

That was last year. And now, Trick Daddy has reignited the debate and his controversial remark, to explain what he meant by that remark.

During his recent appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club’, Trick stated that he only meant to say that Beyonce is not on the same level as some other great singers, when it purely comes down to vocals.

“Here’s the thing, I wasn’t saying that Beyoncé can’t sing,” he started to explain. “Because I’ve known Beyoncé since they were 15 – 16. I have a lot of love and respect [for her]. Beyoncé is a hell of an entertainer, but when I put singers in a category, I’m talking about Whitney Houston, Adele, Shirley Murdock, Stephanie Mills, Jennifer Hudson.”

He also went on make a comment about how he doesn’t find anything exceptional about majority of the singers who’ve come out in the last 5 years.

“The HER’s, SZA, Jhene Aiko, I can close my eyes and not know who they are.” – he said.
