Sinéad O’Connor’s untimely passing on 28th of July 2023, struck the music industry with sudden grief.
While the cause of the death of the singer has not been revealed yet, it is widely reported that the icon was grief-stricken after the untimely passing of her 17 year old son.
The singer’s 17 year old son Shane took his own life in 2022 which affected the O’Connor’s mental well-being, as she often shared with her fans online.
The performer was very open about her struggles with her fans and wrote in a recent social media post to her fans:
“Been living as undead night creature since. . He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”
In many other such social media posts Sinéad continually reflected on the suicide of her son and how her life was in shambles after the same.
The singer was found unconscious in her Herne Hill, South London apartment on July 26th and was pronounced dead 2 days later. She was 56.
