Christina Aguilera Covers Whitney Houston’s I Love The Lord During Vegas Residency

Christina Aguilera payed tribute to one of her major vocal idols – the late Whitney Houston, during her ongoing Las Vegas residency.

Belting out Houston’s iconic cover of gospel classic, ‘I Love The Lord’ from 1996-released The Preacher’s Wife soundtrack, Aguilera also spoke about how the song got her, one of her first major record deals.

“I had to audition for the Mulan soundtrack and also my record deal in the same week. I was super intimated, shaking like a leaf… and he says to me, ‘So sing for me.’ It was a sink or swim moment. He was like, ‘I want to prove you can sing for real.’ ”

“I swam,” – Aguilera concluded.
