First Look: Danielle Brooks as Mahalia Jackson in New Lifetime Biopic [Watch]

Right before we get to see the first official big-screen adaptation of the great Mahalia Jackson and her unforgettable story and impact on the civil rights movement, Lifetime has prepared their own little film on the subject.

The network, which has previously curated small-budget biopics on a number of other prominent figures in music history, has put together the new film on the iconic Gospel legend, whose contribution to civil rights ought to be celebrated just as much as her incredibly gift of music.

Set for telecast on Easter 2021, the new flick has been produced by Robin Roberts and will focus on her complete story, including her childhood days and her rise to prominence in the era of Jim Crow.

The movie will see singer and actress Danielle Brooks, step in the shoes of the late songstress.
