The singer and songwriter delivered a light and subtle shade to Shawn Mendes, after his mention of her name and music earlier this week.
Mendes had taken to his social media, to name-drop little things that make him feel ‘grateful’.
“Grateful 💙 The sun, coffee, my health, my family, old Mariah Carey songs, music, humans!!!” – he stated, with a shirtless picture of himself, stretching his arms out under the sun.
The ‘old Mariah Carey songs’ complement apparently didn’t go down with the diva’s fans, and thus, was started an online shade-war. Because apparently, the new Mariah songs can’t be shaded like that.
Next, MC herself took to her social media to deliver the most subtle and hilarious shady response to Mendes’ apparent back-handed complement:
“Grateful 💖 The sun, tea, my health, my family, old Shawn Mendes songs, music, humans!!!” – she stated.
