Rihanna Called ‘Irresponsible’ by Indian Government For Her Tweet On Country’s Internal Affairs

Rihanna’s got herself into quite a hot international mess, which involves upsetting the ruling government of one of the largest democracies in the world.

The singer recently took to her social media to spark debate on the subject of India’s ongoing farmer protests, which involve incidents of violence in the past few days.

The country has been dealing with thousands of protesting farmers out on the streets, opposing the government=brought farm-bill.

Riri took to her Twitter handle yesterday to ask her followers ‘Why aren’t we talking about this?’, while giving away a link in relation to the protests.

This ignited such a major debate in the country, with celebs like Greta Thunberg and Mia Khalifa, following her lead to step into the discussion, that the ministry of external affairs of India had to release a statement directly calling out celebrities to put an end to propaganda.

“Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible.” – the ministry was quoted as saying, in a long statement.

Soon after that, a number of celebrities from India’s movie industry, also known as ‘Bollywood’, called out Rihanna and others – attempting to join the country’s internal affair.

Hashtags like #IndiaAgainstPropaganda were soon trending in the country, as local celebs and people accused international celebrity figures of commenting on the issue while being half-aware on it, especially because the protests have previously been alleged to have links with foreign terrorism-fundings and massive violent outbreaks in the nation’s capital.

We love our girl Riri, but perhaps spark a foreign debate more responsibly, next time?
