Lil Nas X’s advent into the Hip-Hop scene has garnered as much discussion as some ground-breaking success, especially for black LGBTQ artists.
Ever since the rapper came out as homosexual after achieving immense success with his breakthrough single ‘Old Town Road’, he’s been on the verge of the ‘said-unsaid’ homophobia – often witnessed in the Rap scene.
Especially for male rappers, it is extremely difficult to make it if you’re on the spectrum.
But Nas defies it all and successfully silences his naysayers, as he did again with the success of his recent hit ‘Montero’.

Now, he’s garnered praise from another fellow rapper in the game.
And that is none other than – Nelly.
While most other male rappers have ‘kept mum’ when it comes to the subject of Lil Nas X, Nelly – while speaking at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, showered praises at his fellow EmCee for being ‘true to himself’ and displaying the epitome of the – ‘FU factor’.
Here’s what he was quoted as saying:
“The thing I love about Lil Nas X is the “F U” factor. Listen, it’s so hard in this business to do you. Because from all angles you get people trying to pull you and tell you how you should do you. The fact he does him and does it unapologetically. Regardless of whether I agree with what he does or not. I’m not here to agree with him. I’m here to appreciate his authenticity. That’s what I love about him. That’s my little brother and I said it. That’s my cat.”
