Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ Certified Diamond By RIAA With Over 10 Million Sold In The United States

I Will Always Love You remains the biggest hit of Whitney Houston’s career (or of any female’s career, for that matter).

The late and great diva achieved monumental success with the 1992-released single and it’s accompanying soundtrack album, both of which broke several records in music.

Nearly 30 years after its release, the song has now been certified Diamond by RIAA for sales or sales equivalent of 10 million or more in the United States alone.

This further extends its record as the biggest selling song by a female worldwide, which it holds for global sales of over 22 million. The song’s official music video also crossed one billion views on YouTube back in 2020, making it the first and only pre-2000 song by a solo female artist to cross the mark.

News of Houston’s latest Diamond certification was announced by her label through her social media:

“Whitney has achieved another historic milestone! šŸ’œ Her iconic ā€œI Will Always Love Youā€ is The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Certified Diamond! šŸ’Ž Thanks to all the fans!” – her estate announced through social media.

This isn’t the only Diamond certified record in Whitney’s catalog.

The iconic songstress also boasts of 3 Diamond-selling albums, namely her first album – Whitney Houston, her second album – Whitney and her magnum opus – The Bodyguard OST, all of which sold at least 10 million copies each in the Unites States.

The feat was achieved lastly by her her sophomore album in 2020, which made her the first and only black artist, male or female, with 3 diamond albums. Overall, she is the second only female artist – after Shania Twain to achieve the feat.

Clearly, Whitney Houston is an artist whose music and talent continues to resonate through multiple generations, long after she’s gone.
