Even with all the surprise and ‘not-so-surprising’ winners at the 2022 Oscars, the biggest and the most shocking moment was Will Smith smacking the hell out of host Chris Rock, live on international television.
Will, who went on to win the ‘Best Actor’ award for his role in ‘King Richard’, was upset after Chris made a joke on his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, which instantly led Will to climb up the stage and let Chris have it.
Making a snide remark at Jada’s ‘shaven-head’ look – which is said to be due to a health-condition, Chris joked from the stage – “GI Joe 2, can’t wait to see it” – which apparently did not go down well with the couple.
Moments later Will climbed up on stage and slapped Chris right across the face.
There was also a verbal altercation after the actor went back to his seat. “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***king mouth,” Will yelled from the audience. “Wow dude, it was a GI Jane joke,” Chris replied.
Will further exclaimed:
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f***king mouth.”

The moment that overshone it all.
It is now also being debated in tabloids if Will Smith could potentially lose his Oscar after the act, in lieu of the Academy’s Code Of Conduct. As for Chris, he has denied to press charges or file a complaint after LAPD approached him – for now.
For us, we don’t blame Will at all. In fact as Chris stated – it might have been the greatest moment at the awards.
