Shania Twain Recalls When Her Dinner With Oprah Turned ‘Sour’, “There Was No Room For Debate”

Shania Twain had an awkward dinner encounter with talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey.

Back in the 90’s, when Shania was at the top of her game (and so was Oprah) – the two got together for a social dinner, which went pretty well all along – until it got to the subject of – religion.

During her recent appearance on Spotify podcast – Table Manners, Twain remembered how she learned the hard way about the subjects that should be kept off the dinner table, during social interactions as such with people.

Oprah – who’s quite a religious person by heart, did not get along with Shania’s idea of spiritualism, following which an otherwise pleasant dinner quickly turned sour, as she states.

“It was great to just sit and have real talks, but as soon as we started talking about religion, it all went sour. So, I said, ‘Let’s stop talking about religion!'”

Shania further added:

“I’m not religious in the sense that I’m dedicated to a religion. I’m much more of a spiritual person.”

It apparently got somewhat heated between the two on the subject of religion as Twain recollected that there was no room for debate left after that.

“It just wasn’t debatable. There was no room for debate, and I like to debate. Canadians like to debate everything. So, I’m like, ‘Oh, OK. It’s time to change the subject.'”

Yikes!
