In An Era Of Remakes, Monica Says ‘Boy is Mine’ is Too ‘Sacred’ To Be Remade By Others

In an era of remakes, remixes and music samples, R&B songstress Monica has asserted that her signature hit song ‘The Boy Is Mine’ with fellow Soul-Diva Brandy, is ‘too sacred’ to be retouched or made again.

Monica and Brandy – are often pitted against each other since the 1990’s, and particularly since their hit duet was released in the year 1998. But the 43 year old singer insists that she has nothing but ‘love and admiration’ for her long time duet partner.

During a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, marking 25 years of the release of the song and her sophomore album with the same name that sprouted the hit, Monica stated:

“I truthfully believe that it’s [only] for Brandy and I [the song]. I appreciate that she and Rodney [song’s producer] asked me to be a part of the song and be a part of the record, but for me, it’s a part of history that I would love to remain untouched.”

“I feel like what she and I did is sacred.” – she added.

Can’t argue with that. The song still sounds friends and anew, even after all these years and it simply can’t be made any better than what it already is.
