The Golden Globe winners were announced this Sunday, marking the best in cinema from the year 2020.
While the ‘Best Picture – Drama’ award was nabbed by Frances McDormand’s ‘Nomadland’, the ‘Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy’ award went to Sasha Baron Cohen’s ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.’
But the big history-making winners were Chadwick Boseman and Andray Day – making it the first time in the award show’s history, that black actors won the top 2 acting award in the same year.
Chadwick won his powerhouse act in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, making it his first Golden Globe win – that he earned posthumously, after his untimely passing from colon cancer last year.
The hard-hitting drama, also earned a nomination for Oscar-winner Viola Davis for her portrayal of the title role, but she lost to another stellar performance by Andra Day in the film – ‘The United States Vs. Billie Holiday’.
