Dionne Warwick Questions Mariah Carey’s ‘Iconic’ Status – ‘I Don’t Know Her That Well’

Mariah Carey has been in the recording business for nearly 3 decades, but the diva has had her fair share of critics, along the way.

Now Pop icon and veteran songstress Dionne Warwick has lent her two cents on the subject of Carey’s iconic status, and whether the high-octane singer has accomplished the same so far or not.

During a conversation with TrueExclusives, the ‘Say A Little Prayer For You’ singer was asked about her opinions on a number of female singers over the past 20 years or so, and also her opinion on whether she thinks they’ve achieved the ‘iconic status’ yet.

For Carey – Warwick, wasn’t sure yet, or to put it in another way – ‘she wasn’t 100% convinced’

“I don’t know. I don’t know her that well. I love her music. She writes incredibly well. ‘Hero’ happens to be one of my favorite songs that she wrote. I’d have to give that one thought.”

Interesting.

Naturally Carey fans went after Warwick on social media, but the 80 year old diva – her expertise and experience as an artist, her longevity in the business and her undeniable classic talent definitely puts some weight on her opinions.

So is Carey far from her iconic status?

Have your say…
