Teacher Gives His Shoes To Teen Who Showed Up In Sneakers For His Graduation, Saving Him From Being Thrown Out Over Dress Code

It’s the little things that count and stay with you the longest.

A high school student in Louisiana showed-up to his graduation wearing sneakers, breaking the strict ‘dress-code’ of the school for the specific day, leading to him being thrown out during the ceremony.

Luckily, his teacher came to the rescue and offered him his shoes at the last moment, preventing him from being banned from the ceremony over dress-code violations.

The student – Daverius Peters, was told by one of the school’s faculties that sports shoes and sneakers were not allowed for the event, and he specifically had to dress-up in dark-dress shoes, which meant he could be barred from the event.

Peters arrived at the event wearing black athletic shoes with white laces, because he thought it could be allowed as ‘they were black’. He was wrong, as he was stopped at the gate for breaking the dress-code.

“I was in shock. I felt humiliated. I just wanted to walk across the stage and get my diploma.” he was quoted telling Washington Post.

That was when – John Butler, a paraeducator and student mentor for the school, came to the rescue and offered Daverius his shoes, so he could join his other classmates during their special day.

“It was a no-brainer. This was the most important moment in his life up to that point, and I wasn’t going to let him miss it for anything,” Butler told Washington Post.

Butler naturally didn’t mind walking around the ceremony hall without his shoes-on, as he happily saw Daverius have his moment.

As we said – it’s the little things, that make lifelong impacts.

Kudos to the teacher!
