2021 has concluded with Mariah Carey back on the charts, once again, with her 2 decade old recording of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ – taking the #1 spot. But the year, despite all it’s setbacks due to the ongoing global health crisis, did witness some other memorable brand new tunes breaking chart-records, as well.
We witnessed a much-awaited collaboration between Hip-Hop queens – Cardi B and Lizzo with ‘Rumors’, and saw the rise of Lil Nas X with his critically acclaimed debut album and 2 Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers.
The year also saw Taylor Swift regaining her chart-success with the re-release of her older albums, to gain authority over her originally written pieces. And then the much-awaited return of Adele, with her new album, brought her back to the top of the charts, once again.
Jennifer Hudson was the headlining star of the Aretha Franklin biopic, ‘Respect’, and led the power-packed soundtrack of the film on her shoulders as well. And Jazmine Sullivan delivered the ‘R&B Record Of The Year’.
Dua Lipa continued her steady success in Pop with Future Nostalgia, while the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Drake and Silk Sonic – each registered hits with their own releases.
