Watch: First Trailer Of Whitney Houston Biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ Is Here, By Oscar Nominated Writer Of Bohemian Rhapsody

After prolonged anticipation and years in the making, the first official authorized big-screen biopic of the late Whitney Houston is here.

Entitled ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, the new film aims to focus on the once-in-a-lifetime talent of Houston, her immeasurable impact in Popular music and her turbulent personal life.



The movie is backed by Houston’s estate and was ideated to life by her mentor Clive Davis, who has also often been credited for discovering the legendary diva.

Naomi Ackie, of The Score, has transformed into Houston for the film, which has been directed by Kasi Lemmons, who curated the award-winning Harriet before.

Screenplay has been written by Anthony McCarten, who has been associated with a number of Oscar-nominated projects before, including Bohemian Rhapsody and The Two Popes. His association with the film serves as one of the star-attractions to the project.

The film also stars Tamara Tunie, Ashton Sanders, Nafessa Williams, Clarke Peters and Stanley Tucci – who is seen playing Davis in the film, as the story journeys from her discovery performing at a night club during the early 1980’s.
