Halle Bailey of the Chloe x Halle duo is no doubt one of the most promising young stars in R&B. And with a mega-budget Disney venture in her kitty (The Little Mermaid), in which she features in the lead role – she’s got it pretty much sealed for her.
But despite being quite an overall entertainer, not every performer has got the chops to pull off a ballad, just standing still behind the microphone.
And when the song is a high-octane one like ‘Lift Every Voice And Sing’, the task becomes even more challenging.
So when the 22 year old took the center stage at the Los Angeles Rams v Buffalo Bills NFL game earlier this week, she had put herself through quite a task.
Attempting to croon through the inspiring ballad, Bailey had some decent moments, but mostly faltered vocally and could not really “lift” the song – the way it needs to be.

Regardless, we’ll give her a point for at least showing it down live!
At 22, Halle is still a ‘work in progress’ and we’re interested to see her ascend. Even if being a powerhouse vocalist is not her forte.
