Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard To Re-release On Theaters To Mark Film’s 30th Anniversary

It has been 30 years since Whitney Houston wrote her name in the history books, making her iconic advent to the world of motion pictures with her debut as a leading actress.

It was in the year 1992, when she starred opposite Kevin Costner, in the most awaited and talked-about film project of the year – The Bodyguard. A romantic-thriller about a troubled singer-actress, who is haunted by an obsessed fan, and is protected by her – bodyguard.



The film went on to become one of the highest worldwide grossers of the year, also entering the list of the top 100 all-time grossers at that time. The accompanying soundtrack catapulted Houston to an unparalleled level of stardom, yielding her signature hit – ‘I Will Always Love You’.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film, the iconic entertainer is coming to theaters with a very limited release on two specific dates.

The late singer’s estate announced on her social media:

“In celebration of 30 years of The Bodyguard, the beloved film will return to the big screen for two days only on November 6 & November 9 and the original soundtrack will be re-released on vinyl on November 18, pre order the album now.”

Even after 3 decades, The Bodyguard soundtrack – remains the best selling soundtrack album of all time, marking the most iconic career transformations of a singer-turned-actress, in Hollywood history.



The theatrical celebration of the film will be followed by Houston’s first-ever official big-screen biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ by Harriet director Kasi Lemmons, which is scheduled for a release on December 21st.
