It was a tragic loss for the world as Anthony Bourdain died after committing suicide in the year 2018.
Nearly two years later, his 85 year old mother has also succumbed to her old-age and passed away in the presence of her close family members.
Gladys Bourdain died on Friday at a hospice facility in the Bronx.
The news was confirmed by her other son, Christopher.
Gladys had worked as a copy editor for The New York Times from 1984 to 2008 and the news of her demise was also confirmed to the outlet first.
It was through her help in the world of media, Anthony was able to kick-start his career back in the late 90’s by publishing his first article in The NYT.
Certainly, a lot to handle for the Bourdain family in a short span.
I sat near Gladys for several years on the Metro Copy Desk, and she always made sure we ordered good takeout. https://t.co/HA4wQ4oKVk
