Lauryn Hill’s ‘Miseducation…’ Was Her First and Only Album, She Now Explains Why…

Most Hip-Hop lovers deem ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’ one of the greatest Rap albums ever curated.

The album did not only won Hill 5 Grammy awards, including ‘Album Of The Year’, but it was also later included by the Library of Congress in the National Recording Registry.

Yet despite all of it’s critical and commercial success, the extremely talented Lauryn Hill never really did release a follow-up.

Released on August 25, 1998, it remains her first and only studio album till date.

Lauryn has now spoken on the reason why a sophomore album never happened.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stones magazine, the iconic rapper blamed it all on ‘industry politics’ and ‘unrealistic expectations’.

Here’s what she was quoted telling the publication:

“The wild thing is no one from my label has ever called me and asked how can we help you make another album, EVER…EVER. Did I say ever? Ever! With the Miseducation, there was no precedent. I was, for the most part, free to explore, experiment and express. After the Miseducation, there were scores of tentacled obstructionists, politics, repressing agendas, unrealistic expectations, and saboteurs EVERYWHERE. People had included me in their own narratives of THEIR successes as it pertained to my album, and if this contradicted my experience, I was considered an enemy.”

Although, there aren’t too many specific details to her story, which still makes one wonder – what really happened?

It is still hard to believe, people did not capitalize on the kind of success she received post her first studio effort.

May be, now we can get to hear more of her greatness?
