Whitney Houston Earns Even More Platinum Certifications With ‘Higher Love’ & ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’

Earlier this month, the late and great Whitney Houston created history by becoming the only female artist to claim 4 diamond certifications across singles and albums.

The songstress’ juggernaut-selling hit single, ‘I Will Always Love You’ was given a Diamond certification by the RIAA, nearly 30 years after it’s release, joining her previous 3 diamond certifications which she received for her albums – Whitney Houston, Whitney and The Bodyguard OST.

Just days after that news, the late icon’s estate has announced two more certifications earned by her past releases.

Houston’s 1987 released celebrated dance anthem, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ has now been certified by 6x platinum, while her Kygo-assisted remix of ‘Higher Love’ has also gone 2x platinum in the United States.

“Whitney’s dance hits have achieved more The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifications! “Higher Love” is now 2x Platinum and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” has reached 6x Platinum!” – her estate announced through her social media.

This brings her single ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ a few steps closer to earn her possible 5th diamond certification. Meanwhile her record-breaking soundtrack to The Bodyguard is also close to earning a double-diamond status, as it presently sits at 18x platinum in the United States as per RIAA.

The certifications further extend her legacy as one of the best selling recording artists in history .

Truly Ms. Houston’s legacy is something that remains unstoppable even after all these years, courtesy of her everlasting music and recordings.
